Project Engineer on the 43km Malumfashi - Dankanjiba - Mahuta inter-state road

 

Deputy Project Manager, on the World Bank financed multi-disciplinary Federal Trunk Roads Study for Region 4, comprising Benue, Kogi, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States, for the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.

 

As Senior Engineer he was responsible for the management of the firm’s Highway Division comprising engineers, surveyors, technicians and draughtsmen as well as for coordinating design work on the following projects:

 

  The 100 km Kurkujan - Musawa - Matazu - Kafin Soli - Cheranchi - Bindawa - Tama road    

  Dawaki Link Road to the proposed Kaduna Eastern Bypass

  Completion of the design of the 56km Nassarawa - Karshi - Uke Road

  Participation in the design an d quantification of the Bayero University, Kano campus ring road, estate roads and ancillary works;

  the 35km Kachako - Kayarda and the 25 km Kayarda - Sumaila Roads, as well as the Kayarda - Birnin Bako Relief Links and extension.

  Jebba Logging Roads:  69km of main and secondary roads for the extraction of pulp and paper wood from the Moshi forest reserve and the Juju hills area.

  Field Team Leader, boundary and compensation survey of the 4500ha University of Maiduguri permanent site project, demarcating every property on 1:2000 scale ortho-photo maps.

Engr. Abanobi was a key staff of the Federal Capital Development Authority’s Department of Engineering Services organising and re-structuring some of its vital arms in the course of the development of the new Federal Capital, Abuja.  As Deputy Director, Regional Infrastructure, he was in direct charge of all rural roads, drainage, sewage and other infrastructure within the Capital Territory.  Earlier as a pioneer technical staff of the Federal Capital Territory’s Department of Foods, Roads and Rural Infrastructure he had set up the organisational structure of that parastatal.

 

(E)   Experience Record

 

(a)      1997 to date: Double Q International Limited, a firm of engineers and builders,  as Project Director on the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund’s National Highway and Urban Roads Rehabilitation Project, Lots A & B comprising Kaduna Metropolis Roads.

 

(b)     1996 - 1997 Bildwams Engineering and Construction Company Limited as Project Manager and Site Agent.  Within the company he was Chairman, Management Committee for the construction of sections 2 and 3 of the Benin - Asaba highway.

 

(c)     1988 - 1996: As Deputy Director, Rural Infrastructure, Federal Capital Development Authority, with overall responsibility for all projects within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) outside the core city centre, reporting to the Director of Engineering and Director General.  He supervised Consultants handling the design and contract documentation of major roads within the FCT

(d)     1978 - 1988: Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Abuja.  He was first employed as a civil engineer, and rose to the position of Deputy Director (Rural Infrastructure) in the Department of Engineering.  He was involved in the underlisted projects:

 

       Supervision of Contractors and execution of direct labour works at the FCDA’s field base in Suleja and other areas.

 

       Investigation and appraisal of contract work in the Federal Capital Territory, including the design of the first 1,200No. housing units.

 

       As Resident Engineer he handled the construction supervision of the Gwagwalada Residential Area Phase I from May 1985 to June 1988.

 

       As Chief Resident Engineer he supervised the construction of various infrastructure in the FCT, viz. Garki I, Wuse I, Asokoro and Orozo districts; the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) dualisation; Karu - Karshi road; Onex - Lud - Ushafa road; the A2 Junction - Dangara - Ashara - Yaba road; the Gawu - Yaba Western Periphery Road; Abaji - Rubochi - Gwargwada road; the Airport Expressway - Kuje road; Onex - Kuje - Gwargwada road, and other primary and secondary roads within the FCT.

Engr. Jimoh was for six years a senior project engineer with Endev Associates, consulting civil, mechanical and electrical engineers handling the design and installation of electrical and telecommunications distribution networks.  He is the founder Director of Prag Consult, an indigenous firm of engineering, planning and management consultants, as well as a senior consultant with Double Q International Ltd on electrical and telecommunications projects.
